KISU-FM:

•provides more than 5,000 no-cost radio announcements for ISU clubs, departments, and other campus programs each year. We also provide more than 4,000 announcements for East Idaho nonprofits and educational organizations.

•works with more than 20 volunteer ISU faculty and staff and nearly all academic departments to produce 16 campus-related radio programs and podcasts.

•is home to all live athletics radio broadcasts and webcasts for ISU Football, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Basketball.

•provides employment opportunities for dozens of ISU students seeking professional experiences. The station also provides professional development opportunities for countless students studying media, journalism, health sciences, dietetics, cyber security, music, and more.

•works closely with campus clubs and provides exposure to important issues and cultural events. These organizations include Idaho State Civic Symphony, ISU Athletics, Career Center, Counseling Center, Diversity Resource Center, Bengal Newspaper, Idaho Museum of Natural History, Alumni Association, and many others.

Accomplishments

•Upgraded crucial studio equipment and software, promoting new technology, consistency, efficiency, and industry standard tools for professional development

•KISU produces 24 ongoing radio shows, local news, live athletics broadcasts, regular features and interviews, and provides digital and physical spaces for several campus and community organizations.

Goals

•Improvements to and expansion of local news content

•Achieve full NPR affiliate status

•Expand physical (studio and office) spaces

Needs

•KISU’s infrastructure updates will continue in 2025/26 with the purchase of a much needed transmitter. The 91.1 fm transmitter in Pocatello has served the station faithfully. This key piece of equipment has reached the end of its service life, and replacement parts are no longer available. The cost of KISU’s transmitter replacement is expected to exceed $100,000.

•As the cost of goods, services, employment and professional development opportunities rise, KISU’s annual budget has failed to keep pace. As we continue to do more with less, your generous support is greatly appreciated!
